Hundreds of spectators and a half-dozen media outlets attended a public corruption trial in Kunar, 28 Nov. 2011, and the officials were convicted and sentenced to 5 1/2 years in prison. A school principal, deputy principal, and a third man were convicted of stealing UN World Food Program (WFP) aid (cooking oil and biscuits) that is distributed to schoolchildren through the school system.
