As requested, this is a video of the Hoover Empower running. This model was introduced in mid 2004 and is still made today. No Empowers were ever made in North Canton, even when Hoover was still manufacturing there, so that should say something about it's build quality. Everything you need to know is in the video. I said the model was introduced in 2003 but I checked again and it was introduced in April 2004. Sorry.

  • Don't you wish that the filtration and stuff would be better on that vacuum?

  • @thevacuumman5

Even if it had better filtration I still would not use it anymore than I already do. No one in the house has allergies and I can't tell the difference in filtration unless one is really bad. We have a large Oreck air purifier anyway. But I agree, the EmPower has terrible filtration.

The Foldaway came before the EmPower. I remember when Hoover introduced it. They made a foldaway song and everything.

I would only buy a foldway if it was new-in-box, and I might take one if it was free.

  • When I was younger I remember always wanting one of the fold away vacuums, but I hated the Dirt Devil Dynamite's handle storage thing so I never put the handle down.

  • I use to have one of these but I gave it to my aunt because she needed a vacuum and I didn't have room for it. She still has it and uses it

Well if you need a bin and a motor, you might as well buy a complete refurbished model or buy one at a thrift store. The motor alone is over $40 new.

I sold my Convertible a few months ago.

No, it was a review on multiple vacuums at the time, some being the Dyson DC07 and the Miele uprights.

The only thing I found was a vacuum review in The New York Times printed in August 2002, so was released a few months before.

  • I had an older Hoover bagless from 2000, and it had that crappy twin-chamber system. It was my first bagless vacuum, and it diied in 2003, replaced with Eureka, then Kenmore for 2007, then Kenmore again in 2009, and back to Hoover in 2011.
