And now, an NBC Bay Area Editorial...
Special interests are again spending millions of dollars to buy your vote.
I'm Suzanne Shaw (NBC Bay Area Editorial Director)
Proposition 16 sounds good, the "Taxpayers Right to Vote Act" but it's a 36 million dollar smokescreen from PG&E, to crush the competition from cities, like Santa Clara, which offer residents electricity at 50% below PG&E rates. Prop 16 would force a paralyzing two-thirds vote before cities could offer an alternative to PG&E. We'd support a majority vote, but this helps the PG&E monopoly eliminate choice.
Proposition 17, backed by Mercury Insurance, is a ploy to raise rates on your car insurance by allowing surcharges and penalties that are currently illegal. It will take away protections consumers have won.
Don't be fooled by the marketing.
Vote No on Propositions 16 and 17.
I will vote NO on prop 16!
