So besides great whites, what is there to fear diving this area? I learned to spearfish in florida, we have bulls, tigers, hammerheads but to be honest the thing I feared the most was Moray Eeels, one time I poked my head in a hole looking for grouper and this monster shot out at my face and bit my mask, scary shit. Anything like that in Northern Cali?

White sharks are nothing like the bulls you might be used to. Bulls try to get your fish, and if your fish is in your hands, you might loose a hand. You won't see a white before it hits you, but if it does, you will be seriously injured, but there are very few whites here, and many bull sharks there. Chances are small you'll ever see a white even looking for one. There are no morays in nor cal, and nothing to worry about other than typical freediving accidents. It is benign.

Thanks Apnea. I spent quite a while doing that clip timing. It was a pain in the ass but worth it in the end. I tried to show all of the unique organisms that aren't found down south so thanks for noticing!

You guys oughta come to our (Cencal freedivers) spearfishing competition on the North Coast on August 20th, 2011 at Ft Ross. You guys are good at cabezon hunting. You'd get some big lings if you'd take a flashlight and look in those holes you swim by.
