Nokia N8 Software: Compass

Compass is an utility application for Nokia N8, N97, N97 mini etc, which have built in compass sensor.

In any way you hold your Nokia N8, the compass app always show you the North.

You might need to calibrate -- Rotate the device around all axes in a continuous movement -- the phone when the compass sensor signal is not good, the compass software shows direction more accurate when the signal is good and best.

I am new to this phone and would like to know how this app is working. Does the N8 have an electronic compass onboard or is it using cell tower triangulation techniques?

There is a much nicer compass for the N8. Its called Compass Touch by Offscreen, it looks real nice and is quite fast. Its free aswell ;D

Have owned an I phone from 2 hours after they were released. Soleley for the music and apps. As a phone its over rated, over priced and crap. lets face it, they are full of gimmicks and gaming / music ability but are crap for what they are actually meant to do - be a phone !. they are nice fun toys and anyone ho is more passionate about that than they should be really needs to get a life.

@borneodgap Yeah right...i have a N97 and newest Nokia maps from Nokia labs and updated the maps from pc and phone but I still don't have maps for my country... Montenegro...you probably haven't heard of it :)

N8 OVI maps has a compass. OVI maps is free with Nokia N8. Best of all, Entire World maps are free with OVI maps!
