My male has a very shallow burrow, he only dug a small amount down beside a log of wood so I put some bark on top to give him more privacy. He seems happy enough. Not heard anything on it being specific sex.

With H.Lividum the males lose their blue colour and are brown upon their maturing molt. If you look closely at their pedipalps they are rounded at the ends like little boxing gloves and this is where the males store there sperm. You will also see tibial hooks on their first set of legs.
