  • Abbey Road studios eh! Weingartner was a masterful, yet rather literal, conductor. Like many conductors of another era, he was also a prolific composer.

  • While he strove for a literal reading of the music, many of his recordings (especially earlier ones before 1930) have highly flexible tempi compared to modern day recordings. His early recordings of Beethoven's 7th and 8th symphonies are a must-hear.
