I think the sound is quite good for a record from the 1930's.

I just bought this from a charity shop. Can anyone tell me anything about it?
It says:

Brahms Op 90
Symphony No.3 In F Major
Felix Weingartner and the London Philharmonic Orchestra

One of the best Thirds I have heard- it combines a great sense of structure with passion and lyricism to produce an equal of Furtwangler's great 1949 recording.
Abbey Road studios eh! Weingartner was a masterful, yet rather literal, conductor. Like many conductors of another era, he was also a prolific composer.

While he strove for a literal reading of the music, many of his recordings (especially earlier ones before 1930) have highly flexible tempi compared to modern day recordings. His early recordings of Beethoven's 7th and 8th symphonies are a must-hear.
