According to the founder of Bark Buckle UP, "Pet Safety Lady" Christina Selter, "safety belts can only work if you use them -- that costs nothing -- but not using them can cost lives -- pets included." Bark Buckle UP is committed to informing pet owners about the dangers of unrestrained pets and created the Be Smart Ride Safe take the pledge, to allow people to commit to being safer with pets for their safety, their pets safety and to protect our first responder who's job is to save lives.

I have 2 small dogs, and we love the FidoRido (fidorido.com). It's an excellent doggie "car seat", where both my dogs (9 and 11 lbs.) can ride comfortably and safely, together. They sell nice seat-belts for large dogs, too. You don't even have to be in a crash for your dog to be hurt riding in the car, especially a small dog - if you just have to hit the brakes suddenly, an unrestrained dog can become a projectile and be injured, or cause an injury. Buckle Up, Fido!

Years ago our collie flew over my head during a car accident and landed under the dashboard. The dog was so traumatized we had a hardtime getting the dog out of nearby field where it fled to. We were lucky the dog only hit the front teeth when it landed. The dog wouldn't go near the car for several weeks. Pet safety is a good thing!
