  • hi, great video Andrew, if you were soldering, say a silver coin to a cufflink back then what type of solder would you use??

  • @skattio1 make it easy on yourself and use some easy silver solder and some borax for flux.

    Glad you liked the tutorials.

Why not visit AtTheBench . com

  • Thank you - that was far easier to follow than the books I bought. :)

  • @Knorrette Thanks for leaving a message regarding my soldering video on YouTube.

If you want to watch more of my films then why not visit AtTheBench . com where there are over 100 films available to watch.

    Once again, thanks

    Andrew Berry

  • hi with the borax when its mixed into a paste with the water do you dip the solderd item into it?

    good videos

  • No, there is no need. Just use a fine paint brush to brush the borax paste on the joint to be soldered.

  • I wanted to say that I have been a wire worker for almost 2 years, and am just beginning a silversmith apprentice. Your lessons are wonderful. I have benefited immensely from them just in the last two hours of watching. I also love your website and as I grow in my skill and (now full time!) business I will look forward to joining your website! Thank you for clear concise education!

  • The best demo! thank's!

  • Hi Andrew

what do you suggest to use as a protective coating on the silver to prevent oxygen contact.ie fire stain

ive seen a product called argotech would that be ok ?

or what else would you suggest

    loving your vids

    keep up the great work

    xxxx

  • @ChojiHamon yes i just thig my torch does not get hot enough too melt solder

  • @ChampRunner12 firecoat first then the paste flux

  • @trekranger did you heat the copper first?

  • i have hard solder wire and i'm making rings with 24 guage copper. I clean the metal and use flux (it's a bit dry so i use water to make less dry).My problem is solder wont flow. it flows by itself but as soon as i put it on copper it wont.HELP! I'll try and clean my flux more, i don't use borax i just use flux could that be it?

  • Andrew, i find your videos very helpful, thank you! I do have one question. I will be using silver solder paste. Do i need to use an Anti-firescale coating applied on my material before i solder?

  • This was extremely interesting, thank you for sharing. I look forward to your other videos.

  • Nice video! I so appreciate you taking the time to put videos like this out there for newbie smiths (or wanna be smiths!) like me! I'm dying to get into jewelry making and working with metal. I'll definitely check out your website and will probably watch all the vids in the next few days thanks so much! and wish me luck! XD
