hey bro i whant you to help me can you?
-
very nice video, my dream to own a studio like that

why r all your tracks normalized, and then on top of that your compressing them? is that a specific reason, are you crushing the audio on purpose?
-
You've got alot of outboard gear! wonderful stuff too. I've had to go software for almost everything, but when i start building on my second system i def want to go in that direction... congrats on a well done vid.

good question! the tracks aren't normalized by me. ur probably looking at the waveforms from the drum tracks, which were from drum machines that output the signal very hot when the client gave it to me to mix (too hot, honestly). I'm trimming the output of them b 4 they go into the mixing desk, and compressing them to either a) give them a specific tone, or b) to get them to gel together better in the mix. sometimes both. keep in mind gain staging in the analog domain is diff than only digital

what console are u using?

Do you experience any delay/latency when you are routing from Pro Tools to some outboard gear while u are mixing?
what converters you use?

@Dzoni73 at this studio I was using Digi HD 192s. Since I was using Pro Tools HD, delay created by plugins was compensated for by the DAE (Digital Audio Engine). However, since I routed all of the tracks through an analog mixing desk, and then incorporated outboard gear through the mixing desk, latency was not an issue. This is an issue in Pro Tools LE, which doesn't have delay compensation. In that case, you need to figure out the i/o latency and nudge tracks forward accordingly.

@TheAxisCollective i dont own mixing console, but i will be moving to digi hd 192s in few months. So I hope there will be no-latency with HD rig after routing is finished? i own 2 channel AD/DA converter UA 2192 which i mainly use for mic preamp and its DA for monitoring, but i will need more i/o's for synth modules and mixing with my outboard, therefore i was wondering about quality of converters on 192s, are they good enough for this type of work ? im afraid of source signal degration.

@Dzoni73 as long as your system is properly equipped, and you use hardware inserts on your 192s, there shouldn't be any latency. while the 192s are not perfect converters (or as good as your UA), they are really good, and lots and lots of records are made with them. apogee makes converters that work with HD cards, but their AD 16 and DA16 series are a bit of a price bump from the stock HD192s. make sure you clock your 192s off of the UA2192, as this will likely help.
