Happy New Year!

Thank you for posting congratulations to my new video. I'll comment to some later.

I also made a video, using the recent Concerto, with the cut maybe created by Alkan himself. It is written on the first-published score(Richalt, Paris 1857, later re-published by Dover, also available on IMSLP).He shorten this gigantic work into only 12 minutes, a suitable concert piece. Someone says it is the style of Fantasie. I made the recording because no formal recordings available. Please allow the unpleasant tone joint. Like my original Concerto, I only cut and paste with the newly recorded joint-part(8:13).

  • @OrangeSodaKing I have that LP too, but Smith's cut didn't move me. If I have time, it isn't bad idea to make Smith's cut.

  • @shubus It's not THIS cut version. Smith actually made his own cut version that includes more of it. My friend actually uploaded it onto YouTube. It is here: /watch?v=F0JMhQjp1wk

  • oh, but awesome work, kaki0genkin! I see you optimized some passages by recording them seperately and making a few cuts to join them together, not to be blamed for a monstrous piece like this. your playing is still amazing!

  • the moment right at the cut at 8:13 doesn't seem to work musically to me, are there some notes missing? it seems like there should be a bridge to the second part. still, cutting the concerto probably doesn't really work too well in any way, it's supposed to be this long, and as Jack Gibbons said: I'm always sad when it ends.

  • It turns out that this cut version was recorded by Ronald Smith on LP at one time and in digging out this old LP, in his liner notes he notes the lack of musical sense in the cut version--an observation of which I would agree with. Thanks for presenting this version so we can compare the two.

  • Good idea to post Alkan's approved cut version!

  • LOL, nevermind, I just read your description. Great job!

  • Where did you find the score to this version?

  • Mind-blowing genius

  • wow! didn't known this version existed!

    good job!
