PS3 with Acer 22" TFT Monitor X222W 1080p HD

There are many people out there who are having problem connecting PS3 and Acer or other monitors. This video will prove that it works perfectly. My PS3 is using the latest firmware 2.10 now. 1080p supported and very sharp and clear. Much better than my friend's 32" Philips LCD TV

Required:

-Monitor with DVI input (HDCP Support)
-HDMI/DVI cable or HDMI Cable with HDMI to DVI Converter (Cheap)
-RCA Phono Female to Male Jack audio or similar (Cheap)

What I have:

-Monitor: Acer X222W 22" TFT Monitor
-HDMI Cable from Game £12
-HDMI to DVI Converter from Currys £2.48
-RCA Phono Female to Male Jack from Ebay £0.99

That's it. It should work fine. I have to admit I got some trouble while setting up this monitor.

The down side of using some of the tft monitors (including this) will be:

-Cannot play PS1 or PS2 games
-Cannot play DVD movies

I think that is because the monitor doesn't support lower resolution.

now try playing any games it looks like shit.. i tried some 1080p games on my new LG monitor (1080p native 16:9), it all looked jaggy and pixelated.. so don't ever buy monitor for ps3 trust me i;ve learned the lesson hard way T_T

@endcry Probably its your monitor. There are many people using decent LCD monitors to play ps3 games and no complaints at all. :)

man... i have a 22 inch monitor like yours buts its a viewsonic.. i hooked it up to my ps3 with hdmi to dvi, the XMB looks crisp and great but when i go to any game i see noticable jaggies compared to my old standard tv.

@chrisys93 Yeah it does that on some lcd. I guess it has something to do with quality of lcd. or probably the cable that you are using.

overall, its the cheap solution not to buy lcd tv anyway. so its ok i guess..

@DiEg0123 i noticed that turning down sharpness level on my monitor helped a bit, looks noticeably better, hopefully i can find other options to play around with. does your acer have jaggies?

@chrisys93 No, my acer did not have jaggies. it was fine. But there was a down side. This acer was failed after a year and half. Well.. most of the acer would do...

My monitor dont have DVI, but only VGA, i buy a HDMI to VGA converter box, do you think it will work?
