Bob Knight was a great coach. He never had great talent at Indiana U. Isaih Thomas was his only true NBA talent. Still he won 3 NCAA championships. He would have had 5, had not Scott May broken his hand and Alan Henderson not blown out his knee. Still, I am glad that IU did not rename Assembly Hall after him like North Carolina did their arena for Dean Smith. I would rather play for calm and ecouraging John Wooden then irascible and degrading Bob Knight.

WTF?! That is a slap? Considering Knights temper that was not a slap. He just trying to get the kids attention so he could tell him to pull his head out of his butt.The kid isn't made of glass he won't break jeeze! A little girl wouldn't think twice about it much less cry.

the only reason this was an issue is the media. the player's parents said they had no issue with it, he had a history of hanging his head. Coach Knight was just telling him to hold his head up. if i had D-1 talent i'd love to be coached by 'The General'. he got the most out of his players, and taught them how to be better men and not just basketball players.
