@Tygerfilms Sorry, but that's how I feel. You're video showed up next to another I was watching so I clicked on it. I watched a few minutes and all I saw was kids playing shoot'em up. The editing was bad, the acting was bad, the props and uniforms were either fake or inconsistant. You have to be able to see your errors for yourself or you'll never get better. If you thought this was good enough to show other people then you are beyond help.
I'm sure a lot of people in Hollywood got to hear that they weren't gonna get anywhere. I'm not saying that this guy is good, but that he suck that's to go very far.
So if anyone isn't good when they start you automatically disregard them? That's very strange.
@dandamanlevitan And also, I'm sure many hollywood directors were told to just "give up" at some point. Not that I even want to be a director (looking at camera or editor). "Youtube is full of users who post crap and don't want to hear it's crap." True, but I'm not one of them. Youtube is also full of trolls who join on the 26th and go slamming everyone around 27th. Sound familiar?
@dandamanlevitan I'm afraid I have to agree with MrLoullers. The problem with someone like ED Wood was that he didn't listen to his critics. I want to listen, but everyone is just telling me to give up. How can anyone get better over that? Now saying something like "You should really should invest in some real prop weapons, better uniforms, learn some acting, etc. Because I did not find this realistic at all." I could respond to that. "This is the worst crap I've ever seen, give up" Uh, ok?
@MrLoullers Some people should just give up and stop putting out bad videos. He's not starting a career becuase that would mean he has a future as a film maker and he doesn't. The cold hard truth is that very few people become hollywood directors and even the worest hollywood directors are 100% better then this guy's best. Why lie and say he has a chance, it's not going to happen. Look at all the thumbs down votes hsi other videos have. The truth hurts, but accept it and move on.
I'm not saying that you should ignore the critics, the haters that just say that you're movies suck and don't tell you what to improve on aren't much help though since they don't say what to improve just that you suck. If you want people to improve which I doubt since you expect everyone to be amazing film-makers at the beginning of their career, give everyone a chance for gods sake. If you don't want people to improve then this discussion is finished here.
@MrLoullers And if you really want someone to improve don't tell them to ignore their critics. Watch the Tim Burton movie Ed Wood. It's the true story of a film maker who thought his terrible movies were good. If he had listened to the people around him he could have found success in another field of employment, but instead he made the worst movies of all time. Not as bad as stuff like this on youtube, but for Hollywood his movies sucked ass. He didn't listen and ended up a failure.
I think you're not seeing my point, haters are people who say that this sucks and it's the worst shit I've ever seen. Usual criticism is not mean at all, that's someones opinion. I'm not saying that haters necessarily don't speak the truth they just put it in a very mean and nasty way, if you want someone to improve then tell him how you should improve and not tell him that he sucks.
@dandamanlevitan Okay, here's the way I look at critism, using the "shitty uniforms" as an example:
Worst: "This all sucks, stop posting stuff"
Bad: "All you have is shitty uniforms"
Better: "Bad uniforms, you really need to change them"
Best: "The uniforms are really bad, you should get some belts that fit, tuck in the jackets, and move away from that type of camo."
Catch what I'm saying? Filmmakers don't become better by just hearing that it's crap, but hearing what makes it crap.

@dandamanlevitan Then what would you suggest? I'm open to critics telling me what to improve on. Only assholes just flat out tell you to give up.
