taken at the david lynch weekend, donovan ended hurdy gurdy man, and mentioned that when he was writing this song in india, george harrison said 'i'll write a verse for you, don' but it never got added to the final track, because all singles were 2:59 seconds, and it was one verse too many. so here it is, sung in don's best george voice.

  • When I saw him live, he said Harrison wrote the extra verse when they were in India together, but because of Harrison being legally bound by his Beatles contract they couldn't use it on the album.

  • @A; I'm not sure how well-known this supposedly pre-Donovan poem can possibly be: No one else has ever mentioned hearing it, or hearing of it, it can't be found anywhere, & you, the sole claimant, dont know the title or the author. On the slight chance that Harrison didn't write it as Donovan said, i'll be happy to be wrong, no big deal: The real story: George -contributed- it to Donovan, & -sang- it on the orignal recording, which made the single too long, & so was edited off.

  • AWWWWW.... That should have SO stayed in the song!! I like it!

  • george harrison wrote a verse for the song colours not this song, this is a well known poem from before donovan the name of which i'm not bright enough to tell you

  • I always thought this was played in G Bm C D7. It looks different what hes playen ..... ;P

  • @smoku46

This song isn't even about the Zodiac, so no.

  • did he sun about the zodiac in that verse ?

  • I love it when Don just seemlessly tosses it in when playing live, no introduction, just as it was always meant to be there.

  • An absolutely beautiful verse for an already spectacular song! Love it, George. Rest in peace.

  • George Harrison wrote this verse. It makes the song better, in my opinion. Too bad it's not even used on the album :(
