I made the saltwater capacitors (leyden jars), manually set the spark gap, hand would the primary and secondary and wired it all up. Tried it with a topload but didnt get any sparks shooting into the air, not even a glow with the lights off .. but this worked!

The very LOUD sounds you hear are the EMF (electromagnetic feedback) from the coming from the spark gap and even louder from that little spark off the secondary coil! Even the spark gap alone makes fuzzy lines on my old TV.

The sidebar video at the end are the highest amperage and brightest, loudest sparks i ever got from the 2 leyden jars hooked straight up to the 15kv 30 ma NST - for size estimate, thats two glass snapple bottles the jars are made from.

  • i usually test with a mini neon lamp fora safe distance to film at so idont ruin my camera

  • ACE! i made one myself but was scared it would damage my camera, to vid it.

    got a whole lot of lyden jars too!
