what the hell is coolerdude44 talkin about? Where the hell do you think this jeep is racing? a football field? And no a porsche cayenne wouldnt even touch this JEEP! I would also like to say I wouldnt mind trading my gt/cs mustang in for one of these Jeeps, but on a recent 550 mile road trip to Ohio, my mustang got 27mpg @ 80mph thru the mountains of tennesse, Virginia, West Virginia, and southern Ohio, and still runs 13.3s, on 87octane. Thats something the srt8 wont beat!

@AWDSRT8Jeep you dont know what your talkin bout. 139mph is a 9 second trap! and you do not need turbos and blowers to run 9s! my friend has a 92 mustang coupe with a 408 all motor runs 9.90s at 136mph in a street car! theres cars that run 9s at 131mph! theres turbo supras that run 12.20s at 130mph!

@AWDSRT8Jeep no you didnt

wow just wow

ahaha i like this!! those jeeps are quick!! and they can break into the high 12,s with a simple air intake.. k&N or something..
-
my question is, why does everyone start with a modified intake runner and exhaust system and dont go straight into the internals??? for a cold air intake to work properly, it has to be properly insulated, and the manifold has to be either ported or bigger to accept the incoming air, otherwise youll lose power if its stock, or gain very small amount that will be gobbled up by the water pump or alternator.
Update:
I ran a 12.5 a couple months back with a 1,000' DA.

What kind of mods do you have to run a time like that? my dad has an srt jeep as well and we're trying to figure out what would be good besides intake and exhaust. either that or drop a bigger hemi in there lol

@montanacat67
My Jeep has always been a bit of a factory slug. Stokers run what I ran with heads and cam. :( Anyway, I put a Vortech on my Jeep and I run 11.5's now.

I was told that porting and polishing don't really make a difference unless you have a lot of natural aspiration or a lot of compression...is this true?

It seems to have worked for me, but only after a tune. It seems a tune is necessary in order to take full advantage of any port work. I ran a 12.53 today which corrects to a 12.43. The last run is posted with my other videos.

Jesus that thing launched like a bat outta hell, would love to see what they run stock (without badly ported heads).

Good point. Truth be told, my Jeep with DR heads, cam, Kooks headers, Mopar exhaust, etc. is about the slowest there is. Others with the same setup run low 12's.
