Konami / Kojima Productions (PC-9821) [1994]

Captured with Anex86, T98-Next, CamStudio, VirtualDub and Audacity.

Making this game run and sound correctly on emulators was an exercise in frustration. I spent 9 hours on this recording, which lasts 9 minutes.

Links to abandonware resources are not allowed on YouTube, and we don't want any trouble with them. People should be able to google their way around all by themselves.

  • It is hard to install? i mean, it's a living hell like trying to play mame?

  • @hulksjedi

Mame is very easy to configure in comparison. The PC-98 runs under DOS (it's not a PC clone though). Installing Policenauts requires some serious autoexec.bat configuration, which depends on the specific PC-98 model you have. It's even harder to make it work decently in an emulator, mainly because of issues with ADPCM and CD Audio support.

  • WHAT IS THIS PC 98 SYSTEM?

  • @vasquez123100

It was a Japanese computer built by NEC in the late 1980s, early 1990s.

  • @Ryusennin like the PC ENGINE?

  • @vasquez123100

They were available at about the same time. But the PC-98 is a computer, the PC Engine a console -- they have nothing in common as far as hardware is concerned.

  • @Ryusennin Thanks for your replies brother! could you post me at least where I can get started? I had my share of autoexec configuration back in the days, I would just love to play PC-98 but all the sites I tried to gather info are on jp or 404. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • way better than the ps1 version.
