@TheOpengateway - the immediate reason was that Malcolm X told the media that Elijah Muhammad, the leader of the NOI, was screwing his teen-aged secretaries and had a number of illegitimate children with several of them. Elijah Muhammad had become jealous of the attention Malcolm X was getting that was the more general source of the dispute.
