In conversation with IDRC President David M. Malone, historian Romila Thapar, widely recognized as India's foremost historian challenged the colonial interpretations of India's past, which have created an oversimplified history that has reinforced divisions of race, religion, and caste.

  • I find her books quite reasonable. At least she did not ridicule anyone of being some -ist and -ism. She only criticized people works and not them or their ideologies. I read Early India and loved the section "Perception of the Past" where she discussed all the problems perceiving histories. Anyone who is critical of her work, please put a counter-argument and facts. Attacking her by uniing some -ist word will make sound like a douche-bag!

  • Hindutvas hate her because she speaks the truth.

  • She proclaims to be non biased however most of the conservation was anti Hindu. If

she does not have any knowledge of the religion she does not have any rights to comment on particular religion.I would rate book famous transformation of the world higher than her especially it is more open minded unlike her

  • @diljiitb Nice quote.

  • @gauravrss right! or Sita Ram Goel.

  • If you want to listen to a talk which is big on words, zero on substance, listen to her and also read her books. Of course, you will find some nuggets of information in all the junk she has written, but then it is a trivially true statement that can apply to anything!

  • An example in this case is that the lies of this "eminent historian" have been nailed by the judgment of the Allahabad High Court which held that a Hindu Temple was destroyed to build the Babri Masjid in the Indian city of Ayodhya.

This "eminent historian" had written heaps of material saying that no temple was destroyed to build Babri Mosque and that the whole thing was a "Hindu fascist construct".Along with her comrades in arms, she even wrote a book on this.

  • Romila Thapar,along with R S Sharma,Irfan Habib,etal has been peddling lies about India's history.

For some of these lies and the frauds that they have committed,do read Arun Shourie's "Eminent Historians".

  • great talk... makes a lot of sense.

  • By the way, Ideas and electron do not move unless there is biases.
