http://www.elevatorgold.com Nearly everyone involved in sales understands that a well-crafted elevator pitch (or elevator speech) is essential in small business. Still, hardly anyone takes the time to compose a really good one.
Some people confuse an elevator speech with a usp or unique selling proposition. In some cases, your usp can double as your elevator pitch.
Ultimately, your elevator speech has to be a reflection of you. It can't be just a string of words designed to sell a product.
If we try to make up an elevator speech or unique selling proposition and then gear our business to deliver it, we're doing it backwards.
Before we can talk with any level of credibility about what we do, we have to be crystal clear about who we are.
12 second Elevator Speech at the end of an Elevator Speech Video. Very nice and a wonderful learning tool.

Two of your points I really dig: 1. Too much time spent on creativity when the emphasis should be on content. 2. Take time to find out what your potential client is good at and all about.
The second point has been a crucial goal of ours and why we collaborate in video and audio podcast interviews and articles with and about our current and potential clients, vendors and business friends.
