  • It literally looks like Zaslow's eyes are about to pop out of his head in that choke hold.

  • First time--no not really--I love me some Roger no matter--I felt sorry for Roger

But yes--It looked like Jordan Clarke loved playing that scene lol

  • This is GL at its BEST! There is only ONE Alex and that is Bev. I can not believe that Jill Farren Pheleps let this woman walk away from the show. She is the best actress to ever come to daytime

  • I agree. Mindy was treacherous on two counts- 1. Adultry, 2. Fraud and forgery- changing the test results for Nick. Mindy was pathatic and weak, SHe did cross a line. Next time she should choose her enemies more carefully. Alexandra is a mother crossed. I loved it when she smilled as Roger busted body walked past her. Great acting and writing. Hamp was a good character too. I say congrats to Alex she took her pound of flesh

  • I forgot all about this Mindy. She was a better acress then the original Mindy. I hated the storyline with Roger and Mindy. it creeped me out

  • kimberly Simms was the best Mindy...

  • Beverlee's last in daytime was a guest arc, in Fall 1994, on "General Hospital" as movie queen Myrna Slaughter. It was a murder trial involving Edward and the Ward family. (Beverlee revealed few then-"GH" cast knew her. She was director Scott's mom. No wonder she was stunningly denied!)

In 1992, Maeve Kinkead won the supporting-actress Emmy. It was in 1993 she moved up to lead. Interestingly, Maeve beat Linda Dano; then Linda beat Maeve.

Erika Slezak won her third of six Emmys in 1992.

Thanks for elaborating. I knew she left in 92 - I was a devoted watcher. It caused quite a tsunami too - I LOVED Michael Logan's interview and article for TV Guide when it happened.

I'd certainly say "her peers let her down". Geeze. It makes one wonder what the actors themselves think is "outstanding performance". I knew she was up for the 91/92 season Emmy - I was watching that night and was so sad (isn't that when Maeve Kincaid/Vanessa of GL won instead?)

  • @DarthSnoopy96,

Kim Zimmer garnered 11 nominations and four best-actress Emmys for "Guiding Light."

Beverlee McKinsey (1935-2008) was nominated four times for "Another World" and only submitted once for "GL," in best actress, for the 1991-92 season. Her peers, from other soaps, let her down. (McKinsey's son, Scott, is a muti-nominee and -winner, as a former editor and director; he and "General Hospital" won at the 2010 Daytime Emmys).

McKinsey left "GL" in 1992, for retirement.

  • @JrsyBarry

Thats a very interesting point you made about Beverlee vs. Marj portrayals of "Alexandra". You know, I never thought it that way, but subconsciously I have always felt that way too (Beverlee played it like she was raised that way where Marj didn't).

I think Marj Dusay is great, and made a great effort, but she had the misfortune of replacing McKinsey of all people, as well as the writing, production, directing, budget and leadership of GL all went downhill fast not long after.

  • @CoolBlue71

how Beverlee McKinsey never won an Emmy is astonishing. It truly is. All her work on Another World, Texas and Guiding Light....and nada. I will never understand it.

And yet, Kim Zimmer as "Reva" won something like 5+ times for best lead actress.....? Give me a break.

  • @StanBennet

the powers that be at GL, P&G, CBS were mostly all jerks. I cannot fathom what their thinking ever was.

  • @JrsyBarry

Right....and not only was Beverlee the BEST "Alexandra", the role was created specifically FOR McKinsey in 1983/1984, because Gail Kobe and Pam Long wanted to find a way to bring Beverlee to Guiding Light. Beverlee was truly in the stratosphere of daytime actors!

I think the whole Joan Collins thing was a lame stunt by the powers that be, and Joan herself might be okay, but she plays the same vampy, trashy, low-class obnoxious character over and over.

  • Man, you can't get any better than that!!!
