how long have you have this dude?
-
is that a rhom?
-
@sothgunfil actually it is a real piranha, Pygocentrus piraya, it is the largest species of true piranha. Reports of specimens reaching 24" have been recorded, it is from the Sao Fransisco river in Brazil, which it shares with the equally stunning and rare violet line piranha (Serrasalmus geryi.)

That is a beautiful Piraya.. I love how the newbs come on here and try to pretend that they know about fish.. ha ha ha..
Anyway.. beautiful. and HUGE piraya.. It helps when you can see the guys arm next to it to see how big it really is!
BTW, another distinguising feature of a pirya is that the (orange/yellowish) color from the belly "flames" up higher then on the red belly varieties..

That's not a Pacu.

FYI, I know the guy and he's a long time respected piranha keeper who has had piranha for longer than most of the people who have replied have been alive.
The fish has a good history too, check around piranha-fury(dot)com for more history. I'm Winkyee there, join and PM me and I will point you in the right direction.
