"sung": accept gravity & control it with intension
-
@kungfuasgaeilge @richardshapiroII @taijihitman - Regarding song or fansong, it basically means relaxed but full of potential. The easiest way to imagine it in my opinion is a cat about to pounce. I just got goosebumps by trying to imitate what the cat does right before it is about to launch. The potential is contained within like a compressed spring (but not as good of an example because the spring is not lively).

He is right. He will be invincible if he ant brek his all sided support. Nothing beats the mind.

sung is softness without weakness and strength without tenseness. A good place to see 'sung' is in proper t'ai chi practice and wing chun chi sao

my understanding of sung is that it is relaxed, but with the intent to maintain an open and defined posture. you are not just floppy, but relaxed and yet connected. like in the taiji daigram, you have yin, but the yin has a small dot of the yang in it. It seems that as you do standing, or any sung practice, your body starts to rely on the connective tissue, the joints, and the chi for posture and movement, rather than just being "held up" with the muscles. it's a weird, good feeling

yes, and you can also fly if you concentrate while doing Zhang Zhuan

My teacher Lu Baochun teaches traditional, self defence taiji. However his english is not so advanced so these terms tend to be left out while the meanings he tries to teach us. That is why I might not get these words people use. Thank you a lot I just started but silk reeling feels important.
Sorry guys, I can see that your comments are deleted, but do not know why - it wasn't me ...
