An American oil company located in a South American town is looking for drivers to haul nitroglycerine over the rugged terrain. Sorcerer is a 1977 action-adventure film, produced and directed by William Friedkin, starring Roy Scheider, Bruno Cremer, Francisco Rabal and Amidou. It is a remake of the 1953 French film Le Salaire de la Peur (Wages of Fear). Sorcerer followed Friedkin's highly successful The French Connection and The Exorcist.

I'm not a 100% fan of the music choices made in this film, but it does add a truly alien sound to some parts of the story, which is largely man-against-nature. The music seems to say, you do not belong here, and it works. If I was doing the complete soundtrack, I might have put a silly little ditty along the lines of Down Rio Way at the very beginning of the flick for a sense of irony to their otherwise shitty surroundings. The foreign characters actually did CHOOSE to go there!
