Sophie Turner is an Australian actress and supermodel who first gained notoriety as a contestant on the Australian television series Search for a Supermodel.
Sophie Turner was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1984, as youngest of four children. Her father is an industrial chemist, and mother, a highly regarded teacher to Autistic children. At the age of 4, Sophie's family moved to Sydney, and by the age of 8, she was nestled in the smaller city of Adelaide. Sophie attended a private, ultra-prestigious girls' boarding school for her high school years, where she continuously surprised her teachers and was labeled 'gifted and talented'. She was a published poet at age 11; was selected for multiple accelerated learning camps; and won dozens of prizes for organic chemistry, advanced math and problem solving competitions. Sophie finished her high school exams in the top 0.2% of her state of South Australia, and went immediately on to pursue a degree in law. Sophie, a self-professed 'nerd', describes herself as being an ugly duckling in her youth. She wore braces and glasses from the age of 11 to 14, and was taller and lankier than her peers. Growing up, Sophie says she "never felt pretty", and used her academics and outgoing personality to try to stand out. Ironically, by the age of 14, this duckling started to blossom into a swan, and from thereon it was her academic achievements and outgoing personality that she wished people would notice.
Sophie Turner hit the Hollywood scene in December 2009, when she launched her signature milkshake at West Hollywood's famous Millions of Milkshakes, following the likes of Miley Cyrus; Lindsay Lohan; the Kardashian sisters; Gwen Stefani; Leonardo DiCaprio; Adam Sandler; La Toya Jackson; Dancing With The Stars' Donny Osmond, Kym Johnson, Aaron Carter, and Karina Smirnoff; Perez Hilton; Jennifer Love Hewitt; Jaime Kennedy; The Hills stars Heidi and Spencer; Tim Allen; Ben Stein; and Flavor Flav. Sophie shaked up her signature recipe of "white chocolate chips, M&Ms, Rolos, Ferrero Rochers, Cadbury Caramello, chocolate ice cream, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and a cherry on top!" Sophie's shake can be ordered on the regular menu by Sophie's adoring fans or other chocolate-lovers curious to try her delicious concoction.
Millions of Milkshakes is regularly featured on top entertainment shows such as Entertainment Tonight, The Insider, Access Hollywood, and Extra. Sophie's appearance at Millions of Milkshakes caused a media frenzy as photographers and fans arrived to capture a glimpse of the Australian supermodel and to taste her delicious milkshake. Since December 2009, Sophie has appeared at numerous events in Hollywood, being hounded by photographers at every turn. Sophie has received multiple movie roles and is currently working on hosting two travel related shows, to be released late 2010. Sophie has also landed several major endorsements, including one for the new beer brand, Peckerhead Blonde Ale, which will be launched during the summer of 2010.
On 5 May 2010, Sophie appeared on Maxim.com and SportsIllustrated.com, and became the 9th largest google trend that same day. The following day she was caught in a celebrity battle of the derrieres with Kim Kardashian and became the second most popular google search in the world. Sophie continues to reside in Los Angeles where she shares her star quality with the world at large.
