One of the best original pieces for a film. Almost seems not talked about. Such a great record.

Genius sounds in this film and full of emotion.

This is Herbie at his best. It's not really a tune per se, it's just some excellent muso's improvising. It's basically a jam. But it also goes to show how perceptive Herbie is. It was perfectly suited to the theme of the movie and the era. Everything was spot on. He's just a brilliant musician. Miles would be proud.

I've always thought the music for Death Wish was a little too good--if that's possible. It calls too much attention to itself. It's like a Bernard Herrmann soundtrack in that it's so good it distracts you from the film. You think, "That's beautiful. I want to just listen to that." If I remember Blow Up right, Hancock's music is mainly at the beginning and end. The story is mostly musicless. There's The Yardbirds' number and maybe a Hancock piece on David Hemmings' LP, and that's about it.

I've always felt this was among the best soundtracks in history. He really experienced with sounds and music when he did this. A Classic sountrack for a Classic movie.
