  • The guy that gave the introduction, Pat Ledden, was a professor of Mathematics and Literature at UCSD, and the Provost of Muir College for many years. When students applied to UCSD, he would call their houses and speak with them about their goals. He taught courses ranging from topology to the literature of Dr. Suess. He took the time to teach me Joyce and also Differential Geometry in a 1-1 setting. He recently died of pancreatic cancer. He changed the course of my life, and of many others.

  • Excellent !!! Go ahead

  • @kjmiller1977 What a loss! Sounds like an interesting man. See, I also have diverse interests, and my constant fear is dilletantism. But, I suppose, if you have some sort of philosophical foundation, all your intellectual interests can cohere, in a sort of way.

  • @patternsinchaos bravo shithead!

  • "She's internationally known as a scholar who brings the facts of neurosciences to bear upon the speculations of the philosophy of mind"

  • Patricia was my teacher last year and although I thought she was too attached to materialism, she definitely made me appreciate it more.
