Go Vegan Radio's Bob Linden interviews Nicole Matthews, campaign co-ordinator of PETA's Kentucky Fried Cruelty Campaign.

Nicole speaks about a one million dollar reward being offered by PETA to the first scientist who can create, and bring to market, a commercially successful "chicken flesh" than can be grown in a laboratory. She describes some of the suffering endured by chickens and other animals and how lab-grown meat (also known as in-vitro meat) eliminates this cruelty.

Reference is made in the interview to the fact that, despite this drive to produce lab-grown meat, a meat-free, plant-based vegan diet is the most healthy option for humans.

Comments Nicole: "We've discovered that you can kick the meat habit and feel better about yourself inside and out but considering that meat-eaters are routinely consuming flesh contaminated with faeces, drugs, bacteria, we imagine that once they get used to the idea - like switching from dissecting a frog to using a sophisticated computer model - they'll be more than happy to eat meat created in a laboratory."

  • @krrrruptidsoless soy is not and acceptable food in fact un-fermented soy is rather toxic if you want proof just search youtube the word "soy" and the second video should be "why soy is not a health food" im glad i know this now i was sad at first but then i found an alternative to soymilk - almond milk and i think it taste pretty good :)

  • bleeuuuarggh

i'd rather not eat meat at all!!

  • I really don't care much for crusaders regardless of the cause. Their logic is always circular, they replace reason with rationalization, can't seem to understand opinions are not facts and they are never satisfied with any solution that attempts to find a middle ground.

  • Why don't they continue on the path of finding how animals turn grasses and grains into flesh. It has been found to have a positve effect on technology and products. Also has been proven to be an answer in some cases to many types of ways to improve blood circulation and other methods of research. Compacting vegatables and grains and infusing with vitamins and protein from soy and other veg. additves to enhance and improve the industry without needing meat. Don't eat meat.

  • @WurlWideHustla Your so called perfect food is made from intestines moving food to its exit point. And this food being moved absorbs into the flesh from the intestines to become more flesh. So meat is made from absorbing sh*t. So have fun eating sh*t. It is as bad as thinking that crabs. lobsters and such could be eating dead rotting flesh. That you then consume. Water has decomposing flesh floating in it. That fish breathe and eat. Or its some rotting fish they are munching on. You eat rot

  • @SVBarnard

Dude you can't tell if you're vegetables are contaminated or not fool. Do you seriously think vegetables, even those mass producted "organic" ones, are all safe and healthy? Do you research, meat isn't the only thing which can be contimated.

  • So it's okay to eat meat just not meat that comes from an animal. That is a neat concept, but I don't think it will ever be widely accepted. People may be nervous about eating it, and PETA's name isn't the most widely praised in the world.

  • I wanna eat that..

  • Dude you cant tell if your meat is contaminated or not fool. Your meat could be microscopically contaminated and you would never know it. This lab grown meat would be great and i would eat it!!!!

  • my meat is not contaminated. i wash it thoroughly & once the heat hits it...goodbye germs. eating meat is the right thing to do!
