Does NASA publish a list of amateur groups? I'd like to check out Jupiter.

Check out the Night Sky Network. They have a list of US astronomy clubs in their network - several hundred in the US. If not one there, google your state to find the closest astronomy club. Other counry? Same thing - Google. There are hundreds of clubs out there! All willing to help. Jane

Many of the major observatories have telescopes that are not at all optimized for visual use (some don't even have provisions for viewing with the eye and only use cameras or special instruments). There are many public observatories and astronomy clubs in the U.S. that offer frequent public viewing sessions in telescopes that are designed specifically for viewing with the eye. A quick internet search should find one near you.

I feel all the major observatories should give full viewing priviledges to the public, that is the world instead of a chosen few. The sky belongs to all of us. There should be live links on Youtube.

Find a local astronomy club - they will help you to learn how to use your telescope. If no local one, try Cloudy Nights - an online astro group with many topics. Look for beginners corner and ask questions. Jane
