Something in a completely different vein from my usual. I've been trying to learn piano for about a month now, and this is one of the fruits of that labor.

If you enjoy this, check out my new music channel: http://www.youtube.com/phoenixshadeMusic

A couple of apologies: First, for the poor video quality. I will be getting a new camera soon.

On a related note, the camera used is really for digital stills; it has a cap of 3 minutes for video. (This is the stupidest thing I can imagine... why put an artificial cap on videos? Just let me fill the damn memory card, if I wish! Canon sucks!) So it cuts off early. I may re-upload a complete version, but it will have edits, both to get the full 1st movement, and to add the missing D-sharp in measure 35.

Yes, my wrists are too low, as I've been told. Two reasons: 1) I started out holding them too low, so I'm trying to break that habit, and 2) my chair was too low when I shot this video.

The keyboard is a Yamaha PSR-740 for anyone who wants to know.

  • Very good! You only started at Christmas? That´s amazing! And you play with feeling, you are definitely musical!

  • Thank you! I hold your compliment in particularly high regard, as I admire your music on YouTube. I like your other stuff too, but please give us more music!

  • Good job... you could try playing in 'tempo rubato'. Sometimes a slight delay/suspense can make the piece speak much more.

  • Thanks for the constructive criticism. Yes, I will be playing this with more expression in the future, but right now I'm still struggling just to get all the notes right!

  • have you played any other instrument before thats good going for a month i think you might have been playing a little longer but you are obvously a clever guy anyway. thats clear from your other video's. love the d# fab.

  • Well, I only got the keyboard on Christmas. I've never played an instrument, but my brothers (bass trombone/trumpet; guitar) and sister (saxophone/clarinet) did in school, plus I studied my bro's music theory books from college. And I've loved classical music my entire life. My best friend's ex had an old out-of-tune upright, and I used to peck around VERY occasionally until no one could stand the awful noises.

    "love the d# fab."

I've joked that for my birthday, I want 27 keys.

  • to sie nie nadaje na wesele;) ale sie wzruszylem przynajmniej;) pozdr

  • Add some feeling to your music... Try closing your eyes while you're playing this song and relax your fingers. You'll notice that it changes! I think that playing piano isn't just systematic...
