http://www.flickr.com/photos/flipflopip/ Watch in high quality. Mojo & Shinda will be ready to come home to me in just over a week! There are two birds playing with a (chewed up!) rope toy, Shinda is on the left to start then eventually runs away lol! Mojo is the parrot playing with Lesley (their breeder) and she flies to the sofa at the end of the clip.

  • why don't they have nails on their toes?

  • @93Raya Because the cock bird chewed the feet of three of the chicks in the nestbox, including Mojo's and her brother Shinda's. They are nearly three years old now and if you watch some of my recent videos you'll see their disability doesn't bother them at all.

  • @flipflopip I tought u had them pulled out, it happens and that would've been ashame.

But I can see 1 of them still has 1 nail. how come they chew it off?

  • @93Raya Someone has already asked if I pulled their nails out, all I can say to that is I doubt you'll find better cared for captive parrots than mine! I wouldn't dream of doing such a dreadful thing to them, they have the freedom to fly (I'd NEVER have their wings clipped) around my house for several hours every day and they have an aviary they can access straight from their play area in my dining room. They have spacious cages with lots of toys. As to why the cock bird did this, who knows?

  • @flipflopip I believe you, I just mean that I've heard that parents can be brute but I haven't heard before that they actually chew on them. And yes, they do seem happy and I totally agree on not clipping their wings, we have a 7 week-old grey baby and a 5 week-old macaw baby and we agreed on not clipping their wings aswell, in stead, we want to learn them to stay with us so we can take them out to several places wich we think, woul be nice for them.

how many parrots do you have then?

  • @93Raya I've got three Greys, Mojo & Shinda who I've had since they were babies in August 2008 and Henry who is about 46 years old and I adopted in 2009. Henry has a hole in his beak due to a severe infection he had over ten years ago. I'll add a link to my photos in the video description so you can 'meet' them all! I also birdsit for an Amazon and another Grey sometimes.

  • @flipflopip Poor thing, but it's nice that you've adopted him :)

  • @flipflopip

Yeah I have seen all of your parrot vids lol :) They are awesome!

  • @bilaremix In that video, no, they still had a couple of weeks to go, I took that video on one of my visits to see them at the breeder's house. They will be three years old in four months time, have a look at some of my more recent videos, they are really lovely birds! :-)
