  • what about the idea that god is not an all-powerful entity watching us from above, but something inside us that makes us want to do good, and be good? this enables me to dismiss all man-made aspects of religion that will be naturally flawed, such as scriptures, divine prophets, and religion as an institution, and focus instead on the underlying theme and rule seen in all religions, and often forgotten: "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". (p.s im agnostic)

  • @eddiewaxman As in the conscience?

  • I don't feel like an outcast now! Thank you SO much for this video. Its like u knowing what Ive always wanted to say. And yes; I'm a Biology Major focus in Evolution studies! May I know How old you are? Once again. This is awesome.

  • Last time I checked, 99% of the academic arena was atheist. So that's close enough to 100:1. And when you say the bible and science are not at odds, I assume you're ignoring talking snakes, parting a sea, walking on water, physically ascending to heaven, creating the universe 6000 years ago in 6 days, people turning into pillars of salt, water into wine, turning all water in egypt to blood, a burning talking bush, fitting two of every species of animal on a single boat, a talking donkey, etc

  • clearly.....because......the earth is definitely 6000 years old

  • You're great Alraera! Thanks for sharing your story! I was raised into atheism, and that encouraged me to explore all kinds of religions from an early age. I spent the past 25 years (or so) reading the bible, new testament, some koran, kabbalah, some hindu and greek mythology, etc and in the end, a couple of years ago, realized that my original position is the right one (at least, the right one for me). It was great to hear your story that is so different than mine. Thank you.

  • and for me something that can not be experienced does not exist . just like love for example . people say they experience it but thats only a figure of speech. what they experience is just chemical reactions in their brain perfectly explainable by sience . we just gave those reactions a name which represents an idea, the idea o love..but ideas unfortuantely.... do not exist aswell.

  • @jonesgerard ....what do you mean exactly by "I have experienced God" ? did you see , hear , touched , smell or taste god in way ? (beacause only that would lead a human to experience something) ..or did you "feel" his presence like when we say "i had a feeling someone was spying on me"?.. because the way i see it , if god is timeless and spaceless , you (a 3 dimentional human ) can not experience him .

  • MAY THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPEL YOU....lol

  • @psychosavant yeah thers so much unrealistic stuff in the bible

  • cool studies -maybe you can contribute to trans/post humanism

  • @eddiewaxman "what about the idea that god is not an all-powerful entity watching us from above, but something inside us that makes us want to do good, and be good?"

Yes, God is only ever found within. Not in stained glass windows or statues.

Find God first, then decide if you need religion. I have no religion but I have experienced God.

It makes more sense to me that God prefers spiritual fruits to religious nuts.

  • @Alraera Sure, and sympathy and empathy and all that.

  • @Alraera Sure. weather divine or chemical, its something that i can believe in.
