Republicans are dumbasses. They reap what they sow and are hurt most by their own conservatism and leaders.

@TheFiremancarl doesn't sound to accurate since he's a Republican going against the establishment GOP's interests. In light of that Jim Bunning looks like a patriot here

As a longtime baseball player myself, and a big fan of the game, I don't recall how many line drives this moron took to the forehead. Many I imagine...I would love to go back in time and watch Bob Gibson pitch to this guy. Four pitches, and four times Bunning would be picking himself off the dirt

bullshit he is also hurting millions of people with his unwise decision, with his personal greed with the lobbist. making them richer then ever. he is just only correct about not bailing out the banks. but everything else he stands from is hurting the working class people & small business owners.

he's a heartless bitch that have sold his soul just like all those evil republicans & conservative democrates. i hate republicans and conservatives from any party. because they are the ones that are messing it up for everyone. is seem like you should be listening to rightwinger news because they are know for lying. besides the point i am a independent. i hate republicans also more then the democates.but at least the dems speaks true facts. unlike the republicans always lying. bush borrowed more.

He isn't 'heartless.' He has a big enough heart to not want future generations to be saddled with an enormous debt. The corrupt Democrats in congress can use stimulus $ to pay for unemployment benefits, but they won't. They will just borrow more from China and get us into even more debt. Stop listening to the mainstream left-wing media. They are lying to you.

Jim Fucking......!

Who cares if he hurts a political party he's doing the right thing for the country.

unelmitchell,
While what you say is true, in that it is often Republicans that get to power via the use of scare tactics, in this case it was a Republican that spoke the truth.
I had forgotten about Bunning making this statement. It does lend his recent actions a little more credibility though.
He's wrong on several counts. The taxpayers will not bear the burden. Everyone will. (The dollar will crash.) We do not need to bail out reckless house buyers any more than we need to bail out reckless lenders. House prices need to fall to reasonable levels. They are not there yet. The amount that Paulson can spend is not limited to 700 billion. He can launder any amount through the slush fund
Don't get me wrong. The proposed bill could wreck the US. But this guy still doesn't understand why.

I think you meant to say the taxpayers will not be the ONLY ones to bear the burden. Evidence of a weakened dollar was easily seen on Monday when oil jumped up $25 intraday on just the "threat" of the US getting so much additional debt.
You're right that Paulson would not be limited to spending just 700B -the legislation text says he can have 700B outstanding at any time..which means he can buy and sell using that amount numerous times and leave the taxpayer holding the tab for all the losses.

Great... as if he had a better solution.
wilsontt88 3 years ago
The easiest solution is to just dump Wall Street's problems caused by their own greed and incompetence onto the backs taxpayers. Meanwhile when the times were good, they are not interested in giving us a cent.
I as a taxpayer, actually wish to see other solutions proposed then an 11th hour gun to the taxpayers heads.
