Ok. Its blown. :(

OK. After adjusting the valves I am now convinced this engine is blown. Took it for a 30 minute drive and boy is it ticking now. More like knocking. What do you think?

you have a bad rod bearing, grind the crank throw new rod and main bearings and ur good for another 300k

If you decide to replace this engine, go to a place that sells low milage japanese engines. I had an SD22 with a blow head gasket that was years old. Had rust on the cylinder walls. Bought a used engine for less than the cost to rebuild the injection pump.
