It happens during the day for a couple of reasons. First, it would look more suspicious at night. Secondly, it is not easy to see at night. People are taking these by the pallet load, not just a few at a time. I recently bought a 1/2 pallet of bricks from a demolition contractor who was (legitimately) demolishing a 110 year old house down the street from mine. The price for a pallet of bricks was $125 which I believe was 515 bricks. It equates to about .25 per brick which is probably cheap.
It is not as though this is an act that can be done in secret. Where have we come as a society when where we have the deliberate and overt destruction and stealing of property being ignored by law enforcement authorities? What message does that send to the citizens of this neighborhood?
Thank you Mr. Moore for your efforts to stop this thievery.
Mr. Moore is quite correct. Used bricks have skyrocketed in value over the last several years. In fact, those solid bricks are highly desirable.I am stunned that this happens in broad daylight.
Great story. Law enforcement allows this because the community refuses to take a stand.
