  • Sometimes the video part is more a distraction than an enhancement to the music. Old audience and orchestra or not, this sounds more alive and captivating than the recording I have with Bernstein conducting Israel Phil. Orch. and Rampel on flute. It may simply be the case that the Bernstein recording is overall at a lower volume and a louder performance often impresses more, at least on first hearing. Regardless, this is a very nicely performance!

  • The audience and orchestra seem very old. Check out the Teresa Carreno Youth Orchestra or cut an paste, "dudamel shostakovich 12" You will be in for a ride or "mussorgsky dudamel" WARNING: You may need to take your heart medicine.
