  • I'm looking into doign a similar setup, but was thinking about doing an electric motor under the subframe possibly with a chain drive so that there wouldnt be added weight on one side of the bike and keep it balanced a little better. I'm going to be picking up a 2003 zx7rr soon that is going to be my test bike. What do you think about the actuator motor under the subframe?

  • @racerx159 I think that is a great idea. I've seen an R1 and an RC51 with the actuator under the tail.

I don't think weight to the side is an issue, exhaust is usually on one side and doesn't cause an issue.

But, the actuator under the tail would be cleaner and would protect the actuator and mounts in the event of a tip over. I really dig the ZX7! Good luck with the setup and let me know if you have any questions I can help with.

  • how do gear changes occur?

  • @honzamadrid I used an electric shifter from a company called pingel. You can find it by seaching for pingel eshifter. There is also one called a kliktronic which is the same basic thing.

I have buttons on the left bar for shifting up and down.

  • ORRR you coulda started on a gs500 so you wouldnt necessarily put to much throttle and flip backwards. People that learn on a R make me facepalm so hard.

  • @TheHunterRavine I don't think you understood the situation.

"First Ride" since being in a wheelchair. In the 80's I owned an FZ750 and a GSXR1100.

Been doing track days on this bike now for a couple years. I wasn't learning to ride on a 1000.

  • I used to do trackdays all the time! Been to Barber and Nashville with STT several times! I had a bad wreck on the interstate last year and lost my left leg below the knee and am going to pick up a bike Saturday. I will be buying a Pingel easy shift kit for it as well. Glad to see it worked out for someone else as well! Mad props bro!
