  • beautiful song, jack johnson has real talent.... he doesn't even need editing like all of the pop stars and rappers because his voice and music is beautiful either way.... great song

  • What a tune... So mellow. How the hell did he come up with this song. It makes me sick how good he is at writing songs and plays the guitar.

    Teach me oh wise one!!!

  • surprisingly good choice from a guy named gangstaparadise

  • @yoyoyo119 i know its not about oil. hes too good a song writer to write about a specific subject. i'll reiterate...in an interview, he and his friends were surfing, looked out in the horizon, and saw oil rigs. his friend called them 'alien casinos.' the pirates of the new age are the oil mongers. if your sailing, and you look out at the horizon, what you see in the distance, like land, is the future. but we wont get there cause our planets being destroyed. it is not an optical illusion.

  • @jfelipino the song is not LITERALLY about oil if thats what yur trying to say. its a metaphor just like all his other songs. a horizon is an optical illusion. were chasing down a horizon that was never actually there, and honestly i think when he says 'the horizon begins to fade, fade, fade away' hes actually talking about how were getting closer to death, aka wasting our precious time. or it could be about oil rigs. either way

  • @yoyoyo119 i always thought that our future has been defeated...cause the earth turns the horizon can be seen as the future, cause were destroying our livelihoods. like our childrens futures wont exist. but i agree w/ group1gav also cause j. johnson commented that he thought of the lyrics while looking at oil platforms on the horizon while surfing. but then i agree w/ you also...soo...three ways to interpret lyrics. hes quite the poet.

  • "and then the rigs begin to drill, until the drilling goes too far"

reminds me of the oil spill in the gulf of mexico...hmm

  • This is a youtube video of a youtube video?

  • @GROUP1GAV the horizon is an illusion, think about it. its been defeated because it was never actually there. and all the bad things we did to get there turned out to be just bad things for nothing. thats what hes trying to say

  • @yoyoyo119 WTF???

  • @GROUP1GAV actually the point is that there was no horizon in the first place. we're chasing ghosts

  • "Because people are lonely and only animals with too many tools that can build all the junk that we sell, ahh sometimes it makes you want to yell!'

They keep on building up, there goes that horizon...
