@cubdukat not sure if this reply is way too late for your wonders to be solved but taka's departure was nothing but of his trouble with substance abuse (not even sure if he was "abusive" of anything). but it's been a loooooong time ago. wish DCT can bring this energy back to their music. after SOD album they kinda lost THIS. ive been a huge fan of them since pretty much their debut so i know they can do better than that their current stuff. needless to say this performance was PHENOMENON.
@cubdukat Oh, yeah, and somehow I wonder if there wasn't more to Takahiro's departure than the official story. Both he and producer Mike Pela claim they were fired because they didn't fit into Virgin's image makeover, but even Takahiro admitted he didn't really do a whole lot live, and that his usefulness was primarily in the studio.
@FunkmasterNikolos Virgin completely screwed them over. They tried to make them into something they weren't. But to be fair, they would have had a terrible time breaking into the US market. For some reason, Gloria Estefan's accent is cool, but Miwa's accent would produce endless tittering. I really think the US market still has some kind of mental block about Asian acts.
Yeah, I'm also an American fan and I agree totally! The only U.S. tours they've done to date was in 1998 in support of their English album "Sing Or Die", and then in 2002 for "Monkey Girl Odyssey". Sad because during their last U.S. dates,
was when Takahiro left the band. Something was up. Maybe that bad memory makes it hard for Masa and Miwa to return to thue U.S. And they really deserve International exposure. Have you seen or heard them lately? Incredible! They need to bring REAL LOVE to us!
Yeah, I really wish that also but I guess they haven't toured since their Virgin Records Days and first English album in 1998. They only toured a few states and mainly attracted a Japanese audience, while the rest of U.S. probaby shurugged at them, back in the hazy crazy lazy late 90s Pop daze. Really a shame, after they made an effort to record in English. Last they ever performed in the U.S. was in 2002 in support of MONKEY GIRL ODYSSEY, during the tour which Takahiro left the band. So Sad.
