Evelyn Glennie, one of the greatest marimbaist, plays Ney Rosauro's Marimba Concerto. Her interpretation is so unique and outstanding: super fast tempo, accurate, and energetic. It's really hard to believe she is deaf because her music matches with the band so perfectly. She has made this concerto one of the most popular marimba concerto performed globally.

  • @18nationarmy Thanks! And same here. I'm playing the Farewell in a concerto competition in 2 weeks, and I really don't see myself getting the tempo any higher than where it is right now (160) UGH!!!!!!!!

  • my left arm constantly feels like its about to fall off. i'm only at around tempo 160....dear god.

  • @ZubinHathiPercussion i'm working on the Farewell as a senior solo as well...i'm currently using a fundamental series innovative percussion hard marimba mallet (purple yarn), and they are light and have a bite, so i might just use those. if you are willing to shell out some money, i've heard that the marimba one colin currie ccb3 mallet works well too

  • I'm working on the 4th movement right now, and I'm trying to decide what type of mallets to use. Any suggestions?

  • @infinity182yahoo i have a veryyyy hard time believing you. and also her grip is called traditional grip...

  • @yellind1 I'm playing the first movement right now, and i use stephens, from what ive seen the only advantage over traditional or burton (which i use a bit) is that when you have 2 mallet runs you have a lot more control of individual mallets in regards to 2 mallet runs, but in terms of 4 mallet playing as a whole, stephens, for me, has proved to have more versatility because it allows for better independent movement of all four mallets.

  • *speechless* im playing this for my senior solo, for high school. god save my soul, i can only hope to play half as good as she does.

  • @sicknutt the is : S
