  • We are all different tipes of musicians, thats what makes it interesting.

I made this video just after I got a cajon. I have kept it here coz its popular.

I respect the traditional players and style I have spent my whole life repecting traditions and also trying to make my own sound and push things in a different direction. All this talk of "you must play in the traditional way" is so counterproductive to actually maintaining a tradition.

The tradition must evolve to be preserved

    Peace. P :)

  • Nice coz your using the cajon right...Good Luck

  • nice!

  • That is very good. I just got a CAJON last month and starting to learn it. this will help alot.

I am a drummer with 20 plus years experience, so I think that will help to master this wooden box.

    Keep it up.

  • haven't gone through all the comments, but I'm really curoius what make cajon this is. I'm looking ....and finding more types than I ever imagined. I really like the snare version, which allows you to turn on/off the snare.

    Awesome solo BTW

  • real dope man, inspiring :)

    thank you

  • real dope man, inspiring :)

  • cool!!I loves you!!

  • Nice Paul! I'm getting my first cajon next tuesday. I will definitely give some of your techniques a go!

  • Ironic that there is so much comment about correct technique and where the instrument has come from for something which was originally a 'make do' instrument. Traditions only evolve by somebody having a go and messing around. Other people listen to it and copy it and it becomes a style then a tradition.

There is room for old and new styles everywhere.

The style that I see this man play in is the way that all the cajon players I know play. The important thing is to make music surely?

  • If I could figure out how he does the finger roll/slap in the beginning and the rhythm he uses using the back of the cajon at 0:20, I will be a happy school girl.
