Depends on your play style. If you enjoy small skirmishes and playing scenarios following a storyline, go with the original SBG game. This game is all about mass battles. You will need at least 70 or 80 miniatures per side to play a decent-sized game. I play both and like both.

could you tell me if the SBG will still be going :P i had a break and i was researching new models etc to start again and i came across this. and i dont think this looks too good :P

It will still be going, but I'm not sure for how many more years. War of the Ring is a fun game to play.
