This video tutorial shows you how to install Windows 7 in a netbook that doesn't have a DVD drive and without having to prepare a USB drive.

The video shows 2 ways of getting this done.

Option 1:
- Download the Windows 7 ISO image.
- Install the Magic Disc software from http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-magicdisc-history.htm
- Mount the ISO image.
- Start the installation.

Option 2:
- Put a Windows 7 DVD into another PC's DVD drive.
- Share the DVD drive with the network.
- Access the shared DVD drive from the netbook.
- Start the installation.

And here's the Microsoft Windows website in case you need it: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/home

  • Hi, can you show how to do it WITH a USB?

    thanks,

  • @JSA19882007 There are already many videos showing how to do it with USB in youtube, just look for "How to install Windows 7 from USB" in the search bar.

  • omg... just lost 6 mins of my life. Did you ever consider making a tutorial for installing Windows on a netbook with no OS?

  • @datvaslui Installing on a netbook with no OS would require a USB drive. The whole point of this video is to do it without a USB drive. Please notice that most of my videos are targeted to novice users with little expertise and few technical resources.

  • if I download Windows 7 to my netbook this way, will it delete all my original files, so it starts from scratch, or do they stay?

  • @rockrocks14 During the installation process you get the option to keep your previous files.

  • how do u do without a usb and for free?

  • Let's say i made iso file in my D drive. Can i install windows into my C drive from D drive without using CD?

  • eidiooooootaaaa

  • Hey man nice video... Listen... My netbook says that its designed for windows XP and im not sure if i can do it. There is,also, a new question. Where will i find drivers (sound, video etc.) ??

NOTE: My netbook designer is from a Greek Firm.

    Thanks

  • OK...call me stupid but the first option is only possible if you do an upgrade... if you want to do a fresh install your HDD will be formated and the windows ISO will be deleted which means no installation ISO any more... The second option is the same thing... if you make a fresh install your HDD gets formated, you loose your network drivers and everything, and you have no more access to the windows installation files... am I right, or am I missing something here?

  • Lowend!!!!!!!!!!! You are 'da man! Thanks for the OS install to netbook without use of USB Flash Drive. Love ya, Brother!!! Keep it comin'!!!!

  • hello . what if the OS of ur netbook is sugar ? how can u format that with windows 7 ?
