I have turned my bathroom into a makeshift bamboo nursery and Im very excited by whats happening here. I have grown out one seedling from seed and have about three hundred moso seeds germinating.

  • i love how thats all you have to say....

besides its a "back brace" not a fannypack

  • Soak the seeds in warm water for 15 minutes. Plant them in soil loose enough to allow new plants to sprout easily, a garden ceter employee can suggest one. Plant them in a humidity tray with dome & cover with a 1/4 inch of soil. Place them in a good source of light. I use a bright white 100 watt compact fluorescent light bulb. It can take 3-4 weeks or longer for the seeds to sprout. Keep the soil moist but not soggy & open the dome vents to let in fresh air & excess moisture out as needed.

  • I grew Ghost bamboos. I soaked the seeds in warm salted water for ~10 minutes, then planted them in a used yogurt container. The hardest part I belive is to maintain the humidity and temperature. Before planting, I poured enough water in the potting mix, then turned it over with my palm pressing the mix to drain maximum water. Then I planted seeds and covered container with cling wrap. In 2 weeks, 1 out of 3 sprouted, another week after another one sprouted- the third one didn't germinate.

  • I've just planted out my moso ^_^

  • if Bamboo is a pest and it "Shares resources" using its Roots then why dont people put poison in its natural water source and let the poison Spread from plant to plant

  • Thanks for the information, i've been thinking about trying to grow moso from seeds. What would be the best temperature for germination?

  • and can you make a video of how to divide bamboo we've got some where i live in georgia

  • how do you teel what are the seeds on allready grownig plans?

  • I live in Ohio and ya can't really grow a lot of cool stuff.

  • a huge mouthful

  • cool, my seeds took about a week and a half for them to sprout

  • How long does it take for a Phyllostachys Pubescens 'Moso' seedling to reach maturity or maximum size? And how long will it take for a mature plant to form a growth and eventually forming a small patch of bamboo forest?
