KERARA MARKA (MOW) Shot in U-matic format in 1986
LOG-LINE: An archaeology student travels to Cusco for a university research. He is introduced to an elder historian who has a fascinating theory about the origin of humanity.
I got into the production of Kerara Marka from it's beginning, with a group of
colleagues and friends that at the time worked for the radio and television
networks where I was freelancing in soaps and promotions.
After working as an Executive Producer on the preproduction stage I switched to Electronic Director of Photography during principal photography.
The network provided us with camera and lighting equipment plus US$2000,
and afterwards with postproduction facilities. By achieving a variety of trades with several businesses we covered airline ticket, hotel, food, and local
transportation costs for a crew of 13 plus 10 actors that worked on location
at Cusco for one month. Kodak provided the video stock, which just in those days was introducing it to the market, great timing for another trade!
The following year, Kerara Marka was awarded as the best fiction movie
at the National Video Festival.
