That remind me plenty of things. They tend to refrain you from setting the pin hard, as then you may have turned the pin so much that the display change not or get very fast- so there, even from a piano which is not so out of tune, you only tune the upper part of the pin and dont settle the piano fundamentally. One of the things we finally dont t do anymore when using Edts.they are good to learn to wedge the tiniest increment of pin twist indeed. Best regards
I tune with a Conn Strobe Tuner. I have been tuning professionally for 30 years. (Concert tunings) When used properly, a beautiful tuning can result. A tech. has to be able to set the pins and tune pure unisons and octaves. The Strobe is NOT the final say! I don't always depend entirely on the Strobe.
Correction, I just watched the video again. He was just tuning one string at a time (the middle string) to set his temperament. If you will notice, he has felt a felt strip muting the outer two strings in this part of the tuning. After this part, he will remove the felt one side at a time, and use the beats to of the already set temperament to tune the outer strings. Hope this helps.
Hy ! I used thos tools for years !

Electronic tuners can be used to just set temperaments or to tune individual "notes". He seems to be using a Verituner, if that helps.
He was tuning individual strings, (at that octave setting, three to a note) individually.
So in part, yes, he was tuning individually.

2 questions :
1) what is the electronic tuner for ?
2) the tuner seemed to be tuning individual notes, instead of using intervals to detect beats. Is this what was happening ?
