Whatever your personal view on pregnant men, what a relief it is to find a Bodyshock film that's not about some hideous disease or heartbreaking deformity.
In March last year, Scott Moore from California became only the world's second man to give birth.

Not so long ago, such a feat seemed impossible -- now it's been downgraded to "rare". So much so that in this film we also meet a midwife who specializes in transgender births. Busy, much? You wish somebody had asked her.

Scott was able to get pregnant because he was born a girl and hadn't gone the whole hog with his sex change op. Legally he's still a woman, which was how he was able to marry his partner, Tom, who was also born female but who did have a full sex change.

For anyone who is still trying to puzzle this out, they are now two gay men. And before starting their own family they were also dads to two boys from one of
Tom's previous relationships.

This calm documentary charts Scott and Tom's unusual home-life as their son Miles is born and they make the decision to try for a second baby. This is made more fraught by their move to a new home in Bible Belt New Mexico.
And their quest to keep their heads down probably isn't helped either by the director of this documentary outing them to their barber.

But this scene does expose Tom's own surprisingly conservative views.

"Girls have long hair, boys have short hair," he tells his son firmly.

"I just don't get the whole long hair on a guy thing."

  • Why don't people simply accept other individuals for who or what they are instead of calling them freaky or creepy when they are not hurting anyone >_< What they are doesn't make them "freaks". I understand that people are not used to see or hear abour trans-people and all but if one tried to really learn and listen about stuf like this, then it would easier to accept. Who cares what society thinks of what's "good" or not, it's what YOU feel that matters. Dont be mean people XD

  • I think it's cool and I'm glad they don't care what ppl think

  • hey would they have to stop taking testosterone once pregnant

  • the only thing that's odd to me is that they are both men meaning even though transgender they are still gay, which is what makes it kinda odd to me

  • If you have a pussy you're still a woman wtf

  • @Imogen1885 I will read that and I'm sure it is interesting, thx for the advice. It's just that not everyone with a monotheistic belief reads books about how to interprete the bible from psychological, literary, historical ... point of view. The bible says it clear: put to death. People read it, they believe it's god's word and they go out and hate. 2.5 billion people on this planet have abrahamitic religions, how many can afford in general to buy a second book?

  • @Storybrett Even when the torah was written God was love, but you must take into account the cultural milieu of the times. Take a look at The Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes. Holmes interprets the bible correctly from a metaphysical POV.

  • @Imogen1885 That means, god is now love, but wasn't, when the tora was written?

If i was god, I had foreseen that 'put to death' leads to misunderstandings and had used another metaphor. Translations over the centuries made little mistakes. If it originally said something completely different than: 'שְׁנֵיהֶם; מוֹת יוּמָתוּ, דְּמֵיהֶם בָּם' - 'both put to death, blood is on them.' - i doubt that anything written in that bible has any relevance.

  • @Storybrett Read the new testament. The bible was never meant to be interpreted literally. It is a book of metaphysical teachings. Remember that the bible has been rewritten many times over the centuries and always with the cultural biases of the times.

  • @Imogen1885 But why is the world full of people who hate and kill in the name of god? There must be some deep misunderstanding in the interpretation of Levithicus 20:13 "'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." God is love?

  • @Storybrett God IS love. It's the idiots who pretend they are speaking for God who are dangerous. God gives no one any reason to hate. People do that themselves.

  • @Imogen1885 god seems to give people good reasons to hate. Don't trust the ones who claim that god is love
