I don't know what After Effects is, but I have a feeling that using higher resolution pictures at the end would have made the video much more realistic.

Definitely! I just wanted to work with the low-res images that were part of the original blog. Otherwise I'd have taken my own hi-res pics but I didn't want to steal someone's idea, just convert it to video :)
