@OperaFleming ... And why watch and comment on this clip when you don't like her voice? What's the point of that? Your taste is no better than others'. Why should they not like someone's art just because you don't?
Besides, I doubt very much that Marton and Ludwig would approve of their names being used - without their consent - to belittle a colleague (a dead one at that) like this. Totally uncalled for, to say the least.

Why people like her voice? Too old to sing this role... I think Ludwig or Marton is much better than this.
-
The emotion in her singing is amazing. It overshdows even her incomparable voice.

BIRGIT NILSSON!!!She is amazing!!!
Tack så jättemycket !!!

You are right. This recording is not from the premier 1975. The premier was transmitted on Radio - with Walter Berry as Barak. I have it on reel-to-reel tapes, but they are sadly in a bad condition...

I think that I saw ALL of hear performances in this production... ;)
-
I've got to correct myself it was in the autumn of 1977

I do not know if she was sixty or Frosch is born in 1978. I think it is a video from her debut in 1975, when she was 57 ( anyhow to make a debut in a role like this...at that age in a woman ) We must check !
Thank you for this! It's supreme bliss! She's 60 and is able to sing like this!!!!A miracle!

Yes, she was 60 at the time.....this was recorded at the Royal Opera in Stockholm in the autumn of 1978 and was broadcast on Swedish TV a few days later.
